With one week of the winter in the books, here at the hostel we are gearing up for what looks to be another great winter! Week 1 was highlighted by an awesome last second Packers victory, our first winter guests of the season, and an amazing show Saturday night from Dave Kloepfer of Crazyhearse. Can’t thank him and Bill enough for their performance, always phenomenal.
Burger night is back on Thursdays and it was great to see some old friends and faithful clientele excited for the burgers. As always, thanks to the Kenyon family for the beef, it’s the best. Burgers will be offered every Thursday from now until the snow melts (except xmas eve) from 6-9pm. Food menu and offerings this weekend will be:
Friday – Baked Beans on Grilled Levain w/ poached egg and salad
Saturday – Most likely Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese, stay tuned for a possible last minute switcheroo
Music this week is Friday at 9pm when we welcome back our very good friends DOJO (aka The Grift Bluegrass 80′s band) for the first of 5 shows this winter from this permutation of one of VT’s best bands. Check out the Grifts new segment on Live at the Fort on VPR. Next week music is from another musician extroadinaire, Robinson Morse and a few of his cohorts. They are calling themselves Talking Doctor and I’m sure will be putting on an amazing show. Rob has made a plethora of appearances here at the hostel with groups such as Vorcza (3/18/2016 upcoming show) The Gabe Jarrett Trio, and And What Army (3/4/2016 upcoming show).
Now to the nitty gritty, the weather report. At this point, here on the valley floor, there is little to no snow to speak of. Temperatures down here have been slightly higher and anything that has fallen has melted and gone. On the mountain, reports are that they are doing a pretty good job making snow and have made enough that what trails are open are very ridable and have full cover. Hopefully mother nature will get her shit together and throw down some snow so that we can get this season into full gear.
Beds have been filling up quickly for the holidays and January so don’t wait to get a reservation on the books! Thanks again to everyone for the continued support and we look forward to seeing everyone this winter. THINK SNOW!!!!
